A recent caller to our office was really blunt. I like that because I’m blunt. The people that don’t like me are those who don’t want to hear from someone who is direct. He asked point blank within 20 seconds of the call starting:

Are there any good work comp lawyers in Quincy?

I loved the directness and it led to a really good conversation. Here is the thing about Illinois work comp lawyers. It’s what’s called a volume practice. By that I mean, if you are going to make it the focus of your career, you have to have a lot of clients. Otherwise, you wouldn’t be able to make a living at it.

So when you are in a smaller, more remote area like Quincy, it would be really hard to focus your practice on work comp. There simply aren’t enough clients in that area to sustain a career. As a result, if a lawyer in Quincy says they do work comp, I’d bet they also do car accidents, traffic, divorce, or other cases. That’s not to say that they can’t help you, but in our opinion, it doesn’t give you the best chance of success with your claim. An attorney who is pretty much 100% work comp will be more up-to-date on the laws, and important court cases and more regularly dealing with insurance companies and defense attorneys.

So what do you do if you are hurt in Quincy and want a good lawyer?

The good news is that lawyers from Springfield and the Illinois side of St. Louis do fit the profile of the type of lawyer you’d want to work with in our opinion.  There are lawyers there who have a great track record of success in Illinois work comp cases and can really protect and help you.

The same is true for any remote areas. If you are in a place like Olney, Ullin, Macomb, Galena, etc., there are truly great attorneys for your case, but I don’t believe the best one for you will be in that town. Even if you are worried about travel, that shouldn’t be an issue. No attorney we know is going to ask you to drive an hour or two to go to their office. They will come to you, talk to you on Zoom, talk on the phone, email, etc.

Bottom line is that while Illinois is a big state, it’s not that big and technology has made it smaller. So there is a great lawyer out there for you no matter where you live.
